Mirror, Mirror

As you can see from this, I feel passionately about my reflection of  Jesus.

God felt strongly enough about covering our bodies after sin entered into Eden that he created the first appropriate fashion.  Adam and Eve used fig leaves to create aprons.  God used animal skins to create coats for them.

Think about the difference between aprons and coats.  Aprons are meant to cover only the front of you and protect your clothing from damage.  Coats cover all of you; front, back, arms; they cover you completely.  Leaves were convenient and quick.  The animal skins required death of the animal, preparation and more intricate construction.  God knew they would need protection after leaving Eden.

Some people look at the way I choose to dress as rules and things that aren't necessary.  But to me, they are. I am responsible for representing my family and my God with the distinction they deserve.  How I look is advertisement as to where I came from and to whom I belong.

I have dressed the way I do for about 11 years.  Several months ago I was at a shop where I teach classes and a new customer came in.  She browsed, found what she wanted and purchased it.  Preparing to leave, she turned to me and said "I just have to tell you I love your look.  It suits you."  Last week I saw her again, (tackling a new skill!) and she made a point of bringing up the subject including my hair again.  I thanked her.  Hair is a subject for another time.

I love comfortable clothes that are practical and pretty.  The first outfit is a long sleeved tshirt from Target, footless tights, ballerina flats and a pair of thrifted jeans I made into a skirt.  The second outfit is skirt I made in about an hour from less than a yard of jean material, a tshirt from Target, a thrifted shirt I cut up the front and closed with a costume jewelry pin and sandals.

It is unique ideas like these that I hope to make available along with my own designs.

I'm sure this isn't the first time you have heard that image is reflection of who you are on the inside.  That's for you to decide not the newest fashion trend or Hollywood.

Stay tuned for new and exciting things in 2012!!
